All Good Things!

Last year, I wrote this note and shared it with a WhatsApp group of my close friends. It was a note addressed to a good friend who had just gotten married the day before. It was an out of the blue, randomly written article, just for fun.
Important note: A few social vices and sinful taboos are used in the following article. They were solely added for the sake of literary pleasure and a good laugh. If you’re likely to be shocked and surprised after reading them, take them with a pinch of salt. We’re all aware that good buddies keep their cool and stay sober. Every. Single. Time!

“All good things come to an end.” a famous quote.

Yesterday we were coming back from the wedding celebrations and these guys said, “Write something.” I said there’s nothing in it to write. To write, I need a kick, a heartbreak, some pain, dukh, dard, and aansu. “Toote dil se hi sangeet nikalta hai” said KhatanaBhai, a wise man who made Janardhan Jakhad a Jordan in Rockstar. They said, “you dumb fool, you are now left alone here in India with your lonesome soul, leaving your heart with a big hole. So go on a website, change your goal, get yourself an enrol before things go beyond your control, but for now, write something on a paper roll.”

I laughed off and forgot the whole thing coz I was in a great company yesterday. But later today, in a moment of solitary peace, it struck me how deep it really was. The SingleMan group has now turned from 4 to 3 and is in the minority. So here I am, yet again, making you all read a boring writeup on The Man, The Myth, and The Legend himself.

The SAHEB has now ended his SingleMan era finally. But I recall those old days. Those were the best of the times and the worst of the times, the times of foolishness and the times of wisdom. The times of belief and the times of disbelief. All those days with lights and the darkness of the nights. We had everything with us and we had nothing with us. Hustle was the name of the game. Single for long long times. We had fun; got drunk; danced; got drunk again; got smoked; wasted; laughed; sung songs; made Mary Jane our best friend; made some hoteliers our friends; danced with strangers. All those sleepless nights and long discussions on any and everything, from Netflix superhits to Insta reels, deep analysis of topics that we never had expertise on and all the memorable trips we took, we recall everything.

You are the one who everyone in the group considers the gamechanger. The name that our group has given you(Saheb) completely justifies who you are. The invisible hand in everything that is visibly happening. From Germany to USA and from Cincinnati to Seattle, your fans and karyakartas look up to you all the time. Just like the song you sang at the Sangeet shocked everyone, you keep giving pleasant surprises all the time. I hope just like you guided us with your blessings till today, you will keep guiding us in this new phase of your life as well. And, my dear friend, on this turning point of your life where your single days end and a new journey begins, I tweak a couple of lines for you from a Green Day song I like —
“It’s something inevitable, but in the end is right,
I hope you had the time of your life”

To all you other guys and girls, do not forget that I am still single and you now have the task of finding someone for the remaining 3 of us. And an important note- if you think I resemble to an Abhishek, then please get me an Aish.

Dearest SAHEB, congratulations again, and now that you have officially settled down, I hope to see you bring in more energy to this group as you did earlier!
Good things don’t end, but bring better things along with them.
This note started with a quote that I would change a bit to

All Good Things make way to Better Things!
